Slide and Photographic Holdings
The collection of approximately 13,200 slides represents 352 visual
artists. Approximately 4,000 b/w photographs document African
American writers, performers and visual artists.
Oral History Library
The collection contains over 1,500 taped interviews with
minority artists. Approximately 338 have been transcribed and
published, and another 400 have been abstracted.
The Reference Library
The collection contains easily 20, 000 pieces consisting of exhibition
catalogs, doctoral dissertations, theatre programs, manuscripts,
typescripts, books, letters and periodicals relating to the African
American experience in the arts
The Bio-Data Archives
These files contain programs, résumés, clippings
and announcements on individual artists and themes.

scripts, poems, books, interviews and letters.
- Theodore Ward Collection of play scripts, interviews
and letters.
- Charles and Elease Griffin Collection of
lobby cards, interviews and still photos.
- Arthur Smith Collection of drawings of his
jewelry, patterns, photos, interviews and letters.
- Harlem Renaisssance Theatre Bibliography
consists of photocopies of all theatre articles published in
major black periodicals between 1917 - 1930.
